Drawing on many influences, including intensive training in Vinyasa Yoga and Kundalini Yoga, Rachel’s classes set up a practice suitable for all stages in life and all levels of experience. Expect a flowy class that seamlessly rides the cycle of your breath. You will stretch and strengthen and, if you allow it, you will expand your awareness and deepen your inner understanding.

Rachel flirted with Yoga when she heard it promised health, fitness and a better night’s sleep. When it became clear that Yoga had more to offer, she sought a more permanent arrangement and they have enjoyed a steady relationship since. Today, Rachel teaches tired bodies and frazzled minds to direct their energy using the very Yoga practices that have transformed her own life. In fact, as a business owner, parent and ex-corporate employee, she has a lot of first hand experience of ‘tired’ and ‘frazzled’ and the ways Yoga can help. As a Yoga teacher, she shows people that a better life and accelerated inner growth is possible through deeper awareness – noticing more things and more about those things – through Yoga practices. She guides people to feel energy moving in their bodies, know when they have found the perfect alignment for their unique structure and overcome inner hurdles that stand in the way of peace. Rachel is a co-director of Ten Toes Yoga & Natural Health, which has three beautiful spaces in Ascot, New Farm and Brisbane CBD.

As expressed in the Aims and Ideals formulated by Paramahansa Yogananda, the society seeks to foster a spirit of greater understanding and goodwill among the diverse peoples and religions of our global family, and to help those of all cultures and nationalities to realize and express more fully in their lives the beauty, nobility, and divinity of the human spirit. Paramahansa Yogananda founded Self-Realization Fellowship in 1920 to make available the universal teachings of Kriya Yoga, a sacred spiritual science originating millenniums ago in India.
Suitable for ALL LEVELS
.
According to tantra the physical body is comprised of five Tattwa elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether. Earth represents solidity; water, fluids; fire digestion; air, the breath; ether, the space between atoms and cells. Through the process of meditation, which includes yoga breathing, mudra hand gestures and visualisation, you can purify and balance these elements. This meditation can be done either sitting or lying down. Prior to practising there will be a brief explanation.

Suitable for ALL LEVELS
Deva’s style of teaching is tuned to what happens in a group at each moment. She will guide you into a moving meditation journey via the 5Rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. You will have the opportunity to explore the 3 different levels of relating (self, partner and tribe) as a tool for self awareness and expansion. The 5Rhythms is a physical, spiritual dance practice that offers a lifetime of discovery. Always beginning with the body in motion, we engage the work of freeing the body, opening the heart and emptying the mind. In this practice we connect to our natural state of being; a fluid body in motion. Through this dance we reclaim our own instinctual nature, and practice being fully alive and present human beings.

Teaching this work has been a fantastic journey. I have learned to read peoples movements and its with humbleness and patience that I encourage them to move what I perceive as stuck and in resistance to full expression. Some tend to hold back, use little space to dance, are too tight to open up. My job is to offer them a safe space where they can open up, connect to their body, express their brilliance, shine with joy, disappear in the dance so that they remember their natural joyful ecstasy. I have taught in London, Portugal, Caribbean and presently in Australia (Brisbane, Byron Bay and Gold Coast). I found that each group can be unique in its own but in essence, all humans seek the some freedom, acceptance, joy, community and connection, peace of mind and love. That is our bond. We meet in the beat on the dance floor, stripping away layers of self consciousness to allow our true self to shine. I love teaching the 5Rhythms because it a practice that supports healing, transformation and growth via movement combined with self awareness – and it works each time people show up!
“Deva is like a traditional midwife on the dance floor – holding the space with such presence and awareness; trusting the dancers on their own journeys; supporting us with guidance and encouragement; modelling beauty, connection, understanding of the Rhythms, and a trust in yourself and Life.” G.K., Brisbane
